PieperPower Helps Power a New Sports and Convention Center for Janesville

As hockey season returns, we’re looking back at the work behind the Woodman’s Sports & Convention Center—a project that brought new opportunities for sports, events, and community connections to Janesville in 2025.

PieperPower helped bring the facility to life with electrical systems that support its many uses. Our team’s scope included lighting and controls, fire alarm systems, data and communications infrastructure, security systems, AV integration, battery backup lighting, and prefabrication. Multiple electrical rooms support the operational needs of the arenas and event spaces.

For our team, the project was an opportunity to contribute to a place where the community can gather throughout the year—from hockey games and youth sports to business events and local celebrations.

Built on the former Sears site at Uptown Janesville Mall, the approximately 140,000-square-foot center gave the property a new purpose. The former store was demolished to make way for the new facility, creating a destination for residents and visitors.

According to the Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, the center includes a 1,500-spectator ice arena, a multipurpose arena with seating for 250, and 25,800 square feet of convention space. These spaces accommodate a range of activities, including skating, court sports, conferences, and community events.

Now home to the Janesville Jets, the center’s purpose extends beyond hockey. During development, Wisconsin Public Radio reported projections of approximately 228 full-time jobs and $23 million in annual economic impact. Those estimates reflected the broader ambition for the project: attracting visitors and supporting activity at surrounding businesses.

PieperPower is proud to have contributed to this investment in Janesville. Each game, gathering, and event brings people together in a facility our team helped power.
