Electrical Testing

Electrical equipment being turned on and off causes loads on current carrying conductors and parts to fluctuate. As equipment is energized, the conductors and parts heat up and expand; as loads drop off they cool and contract. Over hundreds of cycles of expansion and contraction, electrical connections can become worse.

The Solution

With Pieper Electric's infrared testing service, we are able to quickly and easily identify hot spots caused by loose connections or imbalanced loads before these hazards cause serious damage. Our state-of-the-art infrared camera can measure within 3º F from distances up to 50 feet. Infrared scanning is the surest and the least expensive way of identifying overheated parts and connections.

Infrared testing is performed under load conditions, so in most cases shutting down equipment is avoided.

Our certified thermographers can also locate leaks in roofs, areas of excessive building heat loss, faulty steam traps, and defective bearings on equipment.
