Service Upgrades
Residential Electrical Services come in all shapes and sizes. Homes from the 1930’s and 40’s usually have small services; many may still only have 30 amps! Homes from the 50’s and 60’s probably have larger services, but still may be limited to 60 amps and are probably fuses. Homes from the 70’s, more than likely have breakers, but yet again, may be limited to 60 or 100 amps. Sometimes, when you’re looking to make changes to your home, the size of your electrical service can limit your ideas because of the under-capacity available.

Pieper Electric is often viewed as a contractor who only does high-profile or commercial grade projects. When you’re building a new home there is a lot to think about. Deciding what color carpeting and paint you should use, the type of cabinets, or whether or not you’re going to need new appliances; all are important decisions. What is a service upgrade? 
A service upgrade is when we take the existing service, remove the old outdated or undersized equipment and replace it with new, properly-sized circuit breaker equipment. By doing this, we can provide you with the added capacity and proper protection you need.
Swimming pools and spas take ample amounts of power and because of the inherent dangers when using electricity near water, these installations have special restrictions. Federal and local codes may also add restrictions to the electrical installation. And while some communities allow the lay person to install their own electrical work to pools and spas, we don’t recommend it. Do you have time to read and know all the codes?
