Overview

Pieper Electric has been providing quality residential electrical work to Milwaukee and its surrounding area residents for more than 60 years. Our founder, Julius Pieper started Pieper Electric in 1947, performing work in people’s living rooms, kitchens, and basements, where he helped them realize the “American Dream.”

Pieper Electric is often viewed as a contractor who only does high-profile or commercial grade projects. While it’s true that we perform those types of projects, but we provide a much broader spectrum of services. Yes, we have grown over the last six decades and we do some impressive work, but make no mistake, we help people every day with things as simple as fixing a light switch.

To expand our service coverage and timeliness, in 2008, we acquired Spring City Electric located in Waukesha, WI. This new location and expanded resource base has given us a Residential service offering un-matched in Wisconsin.

New Construction

When you’re building a new home there is a lot to think about. Deciding what color carpeting and paint you should use, the type of cabinets, or whether or not you’re going to need new appliances; all are important decisions. The last thing you should have to worry about is if your electrical contractor is competent. You want a contractor with a long standing reputation for service and quality. You want a contractor who will follow up with any concerns, and not vanish when there is a potential problem.

When you hire Pieper Electric for your residential project, you won’t have to worry. We’ve been doing this since 1947, and we have the expertise for these projects. We know the codes, the best materials and installation methods, and have the best financial backing in the business. You won’t have to wonder if we’ll be around long enough to complete the job, and you’ll be doing business with the company that builds those high-profile projects you read about. Our company depends on our reputation, and you can depend on us. For your next Residential project, contact us.

Remodeling

“Remodeling.” Just the word gives many people goose bumps. When you think about the mess, the inconvenience, and of course, the cost, who wouldn’t have second thoughts?

It doesn’t have to be that way. At Pieper Electric, we understand the intricacies of these types of projects and people’s aversion to them. Also, because we’re trades people, we’ve done some of these jobs ourselves before and we know how they can go. But, we also know how great it is to sit in your new living room, recreation room, or kitchen once the job’s done. We know the feeling of safety once you’ve had your service upgraded to circuit breakers instead of fuses. It’s great.

So, when you hire us to help you with your remodel project, we’ll sit down with you and go through the process, in detail, so that both of us have a clear understanding of what is going to happen. Then, we work WITH you so that we can avoid costly mistakes and overruns. Call us for your next remodeling project and rest easy.

Home Standby Generators

According to a recent study, 45% of women indicated that an outage lasting 24 hours would be a major disruption in their lives, and 51% said it would be a minor nuisance. In addition, the average female homeowner admitted they are not prepared to go without electricity for more than 30 hours. Men, on the other hand, said they could cope for more than 50 hours.

You can create an emergency backup power system for your home with a small 5,000-watt generator and a manual transfer switch for less than $1,000. The system will generate enough power for the refrigerator, sump pump, furnace fan and a few lights.

Generators such as a Briggs and Stratton 8KW system are personal power plants that run on natural gas or propane and supply electricity to the majority of your house, not just to a few selected circuits. These all-weather appliances are installed outside like a central air conditioner and wired through an automatic transfer switch to the main electrical panel.

When the power goes out, there's a slight delay of 15 to 20 seconds, then the generator automatically kicks on - whether you're home or not - and continues running until power is restored.

The smallest emergency backup power system can power the essential appliances in your home. The entire system can be professionally installed for $5,000 - $7,000. It's a small investment to ensure your family and home remain safe and secure.

Service Upgrades

What is a service upgrade?

Residential Electrical Services come in all shapes and sizes. Homes from the 1930’s and 40’s usually have small services; many may still only have 30 amps! Homes from the 50’s and 60’s probably have larger services, but still may be limited to 60 amps and are probably fuses. Homes from the 70’s, more than likely have breakers, but yet again, may be limited to 60 or 100 amps. Sometimes, when you’re looking to make changes to your home, the size of your electrical service can limit your ideas because of the under-capacity available.

A service upgrade is when we take the existing service, remove the old outdated or undersized equipment and replace it with new, properly-sized circuit breaker equipment. By doing this, we can provide you with the added capacity and proper protection you need.

Then, adding that extra room, putting in that whole-house a/c or swimming pool you’ve always wanted, won’t cause problems with your electrical system. Contact us for a free estimate.

Swimming Pool & Spa Wiring

Swimming pools and spas take ample amounts of power and because of the inherent dangers when using electricity near water, these installations have special restrictions. Federal and local codes may also add restrictions to the electrical installation. And while some communities allow the lay person to install their own electrical work to pools and spas, we don’t recommend it. Do you have time to read and know all the codes? Better yet, do you want to take a chance with your life or someone else’s to save a few dollars?

Call the professionals at Pieper Electric and let us help you. From small simple above-ground pools to large Olympic-sized structures, chances are, we’ve seen it and we’ve wired it.

Trenching and Underground Wiring

Underground wiring and trenching are specialties at Pieper Electric. Why? We do this type of work EVERY day. Your project won’t be the first one we’ve done and definitely won’t be the last. We know all the little details to keep track of. Did you call Digger’s Hotline? What happens if our machine breaks down? What do we do if we get stuck? How will the area be restored once we’re done? How long can and will the trench stay open? Does the trench need to be inspected, if so, did you call the inspector?

Maybe you’re thinking of adding an outdoor light at the end of the drive or a separate service to that garage or pole building. Whatever the reason, we have the proper equipment to get the job done. We can handle any sized project, big or small. Call today for a free estimate.
