Overview

Energy efficiency and renewable energy are said to be the “Twin Pillars” of energy policy. Both strategies must be developed concurrently in order to stabilize and reduce carbon dioxide emissions in our lifetime.

By investing in renewable and sustainable technologies we can work towards a future of a clean and self-sustaining society. At Pieper Electric we believe in this two-part strategy and have expanded our services to enable all of our new and existing customers to take advantage of what is available.

With over 60 years in the electrical contracting business, we have the experience to tackle any project big or small.

Our goal is to take these new and innovative technologies and make them as simple as replacing a light bulb. To this end, we hope that by creating turn-key solutions we will be enablers for current and potential customers to reduce their consumption and improve our world.

Photo-voltaic/Solar

Photovoltaics, or PV, is a technology that converts light directly into electricity.

The sun produces a potential for 89,000 terawatts of power every day. Humans, (ALL Humans) consume 15 terawatts per day. By exploiting this vast resource, we would not only have the capacity to power every home on earth, but we could reduce emissions, progress towards energy independence and create a brighter future for the entire planet.

At Pieper Electric, our services include the complete design, engineering, installation, and commissioning of PV systems. We can also assist with the completion of any required paperwork for grants or incentive programs.

Solar/Thermal Water Heating

Solar thermal power uses the sun’s rays to heat water directly, for heating or a boiler system to generate electricity. A fluid is forced through a series of pipes that are heated in a special solar energy collector. The liquid is then used to heat water, or the floors and walls of the house. It can also be piped to a turbine to generate electricity. Systems of this type are used extensively in the United States and other parts of the world to help lower heating bills.

Pieper Electric and its sister company Ideal Mechanical have the training, experience, and resources needed to handle almost any Solar Thermal project.

Wind

In reality, wind energy is a converted form of solar energy. The sun's radiation heats different parts of the earth at different rates-most notably during the day and night, but also when different surfaces (for example, water and land) absorb or reflect at different rates. This in turn causes portions of the atmosphere to warm differently. Hot air rises, reducing the atmospheric pressure at the earth's surface, and cooler air is drawn in to replace it. The result is wind.

Air has mass, and when it is in motion, it contains the energy of that motion ("kinetic energy"). A wind energy system transforms the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical or electrical energy that can be harnessed for practical use.

Mechanical energy is most commonly used for pumping water in rural or remote locations- the "farm windmill" still seen in many rural areas of the U.S. is a mechanical wind pumper - but it can also be used for many other purposes (grinding grain, sawing, pushing a sailboat, etc.). Wind electric turbines generate electricity for homes and businesses and for sale to utilities.

Pieper Electric offers the same services for Wind projects as it does for all other Renewable Energy Solutions; Consultation, Design, Engineering, Installation, and Complete Maintenance Programs for any project.

LEED

LEEDThe Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.

LEED is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

When your project requires LEED participation and certification, Pieper Electric can help your design and construction team come up with the most cost-effective solutions available today.

Bio-Gas Generation

Biogas refers to a gas made from anaerobic digestion of agricultural and animal waste, food waste and sometimes also Municipal Solid Waste, plus any bio-fuel crops. Design differences for the various plant types mainly depend on the type of organic waste to be used as raw material, the temperatures to be used in digestion and the materials available for construction.

Through the combined efforts of Pieper Electric, Clear Horizons LLC (Division of PPC Partners), and Crave Brothers Farms, the folks of Waterloo, WI have one of the first Anaerobic Digestion Generation Systems in the nation. With this installation, all parties involved are at the forefront of power technology.

Pieper Electric is the ONLY contractor with this type of knowledge and expertise.
